Barber shot by man he thought was his next customer

The owner of a central city barber shop is listed in critical condition, after a man he unlocked his door for then attempted to rob him and a customer getting his hair cut.

Toledo Police say 33 year old Leslie Averill was cutting one man's hair at his business, Fate's Neighborhood Barber Beauty and Nail Shop, at the corner of Monroe Street and Ottawa Drive around 11:15 Tuesday morning. He pushed the electric lock to let another man into his business. That man then let in several accomplices who tried to rob Averill and his customer.

A fight ensued during which one of the robbers shot Averill in the chest. They then robbed Averill's customer before fleeing.

As of Tuesday evening police had not made any arrests in this shooting.
