When you think natural gas wells, you probably think Texas. Or Oklahoma. Or Alaska. But the wells of Ohio continue to produce, and gas companies continue to search for gas in Ohio.
Data compiled by TIN media partner ProPublica shows that new gas wells in Ohio more than doubled in the last six years. The actual number of wells, however, has decliined slightly by about 660 wells to a total of about 64,200. New wells are drilled and tapped as older wells stop producing gas.
